Integral colored concrete process consists of mixing 1 of
64 liquid colors into the
concrete while it's in the ready-mix truck. The process is a cost-efficient method that provides a decorative, warm look to the concrete,
it adds about 30% to the price of plain concrete.
Colored concrete pigments chemically bond to the concrete, and according to authorities in the industry, will not fade over time.
The colors are subtle and not as intense as the
surface-applied color hardener process. The color
however mixes all the way through the concrete which
makes the final outcome subject to the mixture of the
concrete: the variations of the type of stone, the
amount of water and cement, etc., as well as the ambient
temperature at the time of placement. These variations
prevent the surface from providing a "painted-like"
consistent look.
